We are proud to share an important milestone in Actcessible’s journey: Actcessible is now a registered charity.
This marks a significant step forward for our organisation, strengthening our commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and meaningful participation for disabled people and their allies. While our values, mission, and day‑to‑day work remain exactly the same, becoming a registered charity gives Actcessible a stronger foundation to grow, collaborate, and create lasting impact.
What this means for Actcessible
Registering as a charity means Actcessible is now formally recognised as operating for the public benefit. It places us under the guidance and regulation of the Charity Commission, ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance in everything we do.
For our community, partners, and supporters, this means:
Clear charitable purpose and public benefitStrong governance and trustee oversightIncreased trust and credibilityGreater opportunities for funding, partnerships, and long‑term sustainability
Most importantly, it helps us do more of the work that matters.
Our mission remains the same
Actcessible was created to challenge barriers, amplify disabled voices, and ensure accessibility is not an afterthought but a starting point.
Through creative projects, education, training, and advocacy, we work to:
Promote accessibility and inclusion across the arts, education, and community spaces
Create opportunities where disabled people are respected, represented, and heard
Support learning and understanding around disability, access, and communication
Becoming a charity does not change why we exist it strengthens our ability to deliver it.
Why this step matters
Accessibility work is often treated as optional, secondary, or reactive. At Actcessible, we believe it is essential.
Charitable status allows us to:
Develop projects with long‑term impact rather than short‑term fixes
Work more closely with schools, organisations, and communities
Apply for grants and funding that directly support accessible practice
Build a sustainable organisation that can grow responsibly
This step helps ensure Actcessible can continue its work with integrity, care, and ambition.
Thank you
This milestone would not be possible without the people who have supported Actcessible from the beginning collaborators, audiences, participants, advisors, trustees, and everyone who believes accessibility should be embedded, not bolted on.
We are excited about what comes next and grateful to everyone walking this path with us.
If you would like to follow our work, collaborate, or support Actcessible, we would love to hear from you.
This is just the beginning.
The Actcessible Team
