Volunteer With Us

Send us a message
and we’ll get back to you shortly.

Slide 1 -  At Actcessible, we believe theatre should be for everyone, and that includes the people who help make it happen. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our inclusive theatre projects, whether that is helping behind the scenes, contributing to video and audio production, creating compositions, or supporting in other creative and technical ways. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please use the contact form on our website to get in touch. We will then arrange an informal chat to explore whether there is a suitable role for you, based on your skills, interests, and availability.

Slide 2 - As a volunteer, you will be introduced to Actcessible through our training program. This covers safeguarding and gives you a clear understanding of our mission, values, and how we work. You do not need a DBS check to make an initial inquiry, but DBS checks will be required before any work with children or adults at risk begins. Professional references will be requested before any role is confirmed.

Slide 3 - We recognise that 'professional' can mean different things in different contexts. A referee could be someone you have worked with in an amateur dramatics group, a community project, a workplace, or another relevant setting. Applications to volunteer with us are welcomed from anyone who is suitably skilled and motivated. However, in line with our mission, we are especially keen to hear from disabled and neurodivergent people, and we warmly encourage you to apply.

Slide 4 - If you share our values and passion for inclusive theatre, we want to see your talent. Actcessible is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and adults who take part in our work, and expects all volunteers to share this commitment .If your application is successful, you will be required to complete the relevant safeguarding checks before starting your role. We are committed to providing reasonable adjustments at every stage, from enquiry to volunteering, so you can contribute at your best.

Slide 5 - We expect all volunteers to share responsibility for keeping children and adults at risk safe. Our safeguarding policies are clear. Safeguarding is everyone's legal responsibility. Concerns must be reported promptly. Training will be provided so you feel confident in your role.

Slide 6 - Volunteering opportunities are open to people aged 16 and over. If you are under 18, you must have parent or guardian consent recorded through Actcessible's official safeguarding forms before you can begin volunteering. These forms must be completed and approved in advance of any involvement in our activities. For safeguarding reasons, Actcessible requires that all volunteers undertaking roles at schools, hospitals, care homes, and all other performance venues are aged 18 and over.
